Our carefully planned routine includes a mix of educational activities, physical play, and five nutritious meals to support their growth and development. Here’s what a typical day looks like at Jambra:
Children arrive, put their Jambra backpacks in their lockers, and are welcomed by a familiar educator. We know all our children, so we’ll plan an experience for them to ensure they’re excited to start their day with us.
Children enjoy a wholesome meal with options such as oatmeal, fresh fruit, whole-grain toast, and milk or water.
Children will enjoy a light snack such as sliced fruit, yoghurt, or crackers, followed by an acknowledgement of the country we care for, and some shared experiences. Some of our older children might have a morning group discussion and engage in group stories, yarns, songs, or games.
Children make their way around their learning spaces filled with planned learning experiences, all set out specifically for the children present that day. Experiences could include doing puzzles, engaging in school readiness activities, creating art, dressing up and role-playing in dramatic play spaces, or getting messy at sensory stations. The possibilities are limitless!
Children will enjoy a nutritious meal that includes a protein source (chicken, fish, or beans), a variety of vegetables, whole grains (rice, quinoa, or pasta), and a glass of water or milk.
Children have a nap or quiet time with soft music or calming stories for those who don’t sleep, helping them recharge for the afternoon. Yoga, meditation, and mindfulness exercises are also incorporated to encourage relaxation and well-being.
The learning continues in the afternoon with more experiences. After lunch and a rest, we hopefully have more energy, so we’ll plan some music and movement activities following the “Munch & Move Curriculum” to develop children’s fundamental movement skills through games, obstacle courses, sports, and experiences guiding them towards making healthy decisions.
Children will enjoy a healthy snack such as vegetable sticks with hummus or a small sandwich, followed by a discussion where children share what they enjoyed or learned during the day.
Children will have a final snack, like a small muffin or cheese and crackers, paired with storytime to relax and wind down before going home.
Parents arrive to pick up their children, with educators sharing any important notes or updates from the day.
