Fun & Easy Cooking Activities for Kids at Jambra Early Learning

At Jambra Early Learning, we know that some of the best learning happens in the kitchen! Cooking with children is a wonderful way to explore creativity, develop fine motor skills, and introduce basic concepts like measuring, counting, and following instructions. Plus, it’s a lot of fun.

Our cooking program at Jambra encourages children to take part in age-appropriate food preparation activities, helping them gain confidence, independence, and a love for healthy foods. Today, we are sharing 4 simple, parent-friendly recipes you can try at home with your little ones.

1. Rainbow Fruit Skewers

What you need:

  • Strawberries, grapes, banana slices, blueberries, or any fruit your child enjoys
  • Wooden skewers or straws

Steps:

  1. Wash all the fruit carefully.
  2. Cut larger fruits into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Help your child thread the fruit onto skewers in a rainbow pattern.
  4. Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for a cool snack.

Rainbow fruit skewers are a fun way to explore colours, practice hand-eye coordination, and enjoy a healthy treat.

2. Mini Veggie Pizzas

What you need:

  • English muffins or small pita breads
  • Tomato sauce
  • Shredded cheese
  • Chopped veggies (tomatoes, capsicum, spinach, corn)

Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Spread a little tomato sauce on each muffin/pita base.
  3. Let your child sprinkle cheese and add veggies on top.
  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until cheese melts.
  5. Allow to cool slightly before eating.

What you need:

  2. Mash the bananas in a bowl.
